Jurisdictional Inspections

Boiler reinsuranceMany states, as well as cities from Miami to Seattle, require periodic inspections of objects including boilers and/or pressure vessels.

Inspections determine the safety of equipment, ensure that the equipment is in satisfactory operating condition, properly constructed, and properly maintained for the purpose intended.

A certificate of inspection is issued per the governing body rules. We work with you to service this need.

Types of objects requiring inspections vary by jurisdiction, but below are examples of objects requiring inspections:

  • Power boilers and high-pressure, high-temperature water boilers;
  • Low-pressure steam or vapor-heating boilers;
  • Hot-water heating and hot-water supply boilers;
  • Various other pressure vessels like air tanks.

Suspension of Objects:

Most, if not all, equipment breakdown forms contain a suspension clause that permits the carrier to immediately suspend coverage on a particular object if an inspection reveals that it is in a dangerous condition posing a threat to life and/or property. Although the forms require a written notice to the Insured, immediate suspension can be accomplished by means of a hand written notice delivered to local plant management at the time of inspection.
